Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine: Truly Filipino with a twist

When you're at Quezon City and would like a revolutionary twist for the local dishes from different regions in the Philippines, there's one place now, not hidden but happy to serve their evolving dishes for everyone, head to Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine.

Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine

When my group went there to try the different signature dishes, we are amazed that they have many unique but from the traditional Filipino dishes as their dishes is evolved from the different regions in the Philippines add up also that the owners of this interesting restaurant made sure that the dishes will not be the usual home cooked food from our Grandmas table.

Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine is like eating Al Fresco because of the design of the infrastructure & exposed but architecturally designed PVC pipes that served as the lamp posts. I love the traditional display of old photographs, books and furniture that made me ratatouille like think about the past, when were still living in the province under our grandparents home. The restaurant is  home away from home.

The ambiance is suitable for celebrations and for just relaxing with family

I love the decor

Here's what we had for lunch and joyfully served us by Sigrid  Aragona Buendia, one of the owners of the restaurant.

 Revolutionary food for your taste

Chopsuy Salad. The twist here is that, it's a mixture of our local dish from the cooked chopsuy but now with fresh vegetables and made just like a salad with dressing.

Inihaw na Tilapia roll. This unique dish is not just pleasing to my eyes but for my taste. I love the mustasa leaves and fermented rice, I tasted same dish like this at Angeles, Pampanga when the Mayor of that town invited us at their fiesta celebration. I will surely go back at Tiago because of this. The grilled fish inside the mustasa with the buro is a must to try for everyone. Very healthy for all the figure conscious ladies out there.

Pinausukang Chicken and Pork is another dish I will never forget. A combination of two meat in one. A unique blend for every bite. According to Sigrid, it took the chef hours to cooked this. That made the Pinausukang Chicken and Pork so tender.

Pork Sisig is another recipe to die for. It's a common dish for Filipinos but made more delicious under the progressive and evolving taste of the owners. Sisig at Tiago is made of pork cheeks and nape with onions.

Desserts;

 Delicious Leche Flan

Leche Flan. Filipinos have sweet tooth and obviously, we all love Leche Plan and will order lots for take out because of the unique blend and interesting toppings of this favorite dessert. Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine Leche Plan is topped with sweetened pearls and banana, a new twist to usual Leche  Flan preparation.

Suman. Occasionally our favorite kakanin is the usual Suman, another dessert that is made of rice. At Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine, it's crunchy because it's fried. Salivating because of the tablea chocolate sauce and sweet latik, a must try.

Reviewing the article I did for Tiago Progressive Filipino Cuisine made me lke to go back as soon as possible, the taste of the different dishes will make you schedule a trip with the whole family.

The restaurant is newly opened at the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue and Scout Fuentabella Street and open from Tiesdays to Sundays from 11:00am to 11:00 pm.

Oriang by Cafe De Bonifacio: A local and revolutionary taste for our heart by Odessa Escaler

Oriang by Cafe De Bonifacio is the new restaurant at Market Market Fiesta at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. A soft spot in our heart with a revolutionary taste to crave for. Less than 8 months old, Oriang captures the heart of Filipinos, it's more like going back to our home in the province with a native or local “ulam” waiting for us cooked by our parents or grandparents. It's like na “Ratatoille” ka with the delicious array of local dishes Oriang is offering.

Enjoying with Pandan Drink and Oriang Okoy

Gregoria de Jesús, also known as Aling Oriang was the founder and vice-president of the women's chapter of the Katipunan of the Philippines. She was also the custodian of the documents and seal of the Katipunan. She married Andrés Bonifacio, the supremo of the Katipunan, and played a major role in the Philippine Revolution. A loving wife after her husband was ambushed became more empowered and proved her leadership as she leads the revolution even as a woman. For those people behind Oriang restaurant who admires the bravery of Andres Bonifacio and his wife, Oriang is just fit for the revolutionary taste of Filipinos with a twist.

Ferdinand “Mok” Olarte, the Operations Director prepared my team with delicious food at Oriang last August 1, 2013. The ambiance and friendly smiles of the people at Oriang not only captured our heart but will make you think ahead for another scheduled meal at this place and this time with our own family and friends.

I am just always craving with our local Okoy and when Oriang served their very own version of Oriang Okoy, I took the spicy vinegar at the table and digged in right away.

Oriang Okoy is a crispy pancake with tiny shrimps. Holding the crunchy shrimps together is a special batter made from sweet potato and squash. A new twist with the usual Okoy.

The rice Oriang served was Tuyo Fried Rice. A more tasteful of course from the usual Plain Rice.

With rice being the center in the Filipino meal, Oriang let us feast on Oriang Tuyo Rice generously with dried “Tuyo” and loads of garlic served with all-time Filipino favorites like Pinakbet with Liempo & Chicharon, Boneless Bistek Bangus and Chicken Inasal with pickled shallots. it was a deletable dinner meeting for my group. We always like our very own dishes.

Palitaw with Ube Halaya was the dessert, two in one while drinking Pandan Iced Tea .

Isdaan sa Calauan : Helping the Community

First in Laguna and located at Barangay Hanggan, Calauan is the newly opened “Isdaan” Floating Resto- Fun Park. A sister company of Barrio Fiesta and owned by the Ongpauco’s. Gigantic statues of Monkeys, Crocodiles, Fishes and Mermaids are all around with singing cooks and waiters serenading you.

Affordable prices of Filipino cuisine and nice ambiance are the catch if one will drop by here. Everything is new. Lot’s of attraction in this 3 hectares place at “Isdaan” like a boat ride for only 20 pesos. The “Tacsiapo” is where one could release his anger with the minimum purchase of 25 pesos, you could remove your anger by throwing the plate to the wall.

The floating Nipa huts are everywhere catering from 10 people to 30 each. For more like an outdoor dine in, there’s that biggest Monkey and lot’s of Coi area for you. I love the lights at night.

The area is like a themed park with heroes such as Incredible hulk, Spiderman, the former President Cory Aquino and Erap?

with Mayor George Berris of Calauan, Laguna

Why the kids would love it? Because of these toys located at all the right places.

Overall, we went here because of the birthday of my Twins, yes! The food is great specially this Inihaw sa Bilao for only 500 pesos plus with assorted sea foods. I love the pitcher of Fresh Buco Juice, In Calauan though we have many from our farm, it is much easier to buy it than to ask someone to get from the tree.

Main point is the employees. The newly opened restaurant gives work to the population of 70,000. Brgy. Hanggan main means of living is gardening, one from the 17 Barangays of this 3rd class municipality. The business gives work and could help the community to be known in the whole Philippines as the biggest Floating Restaurant in Laguna. Tara!

Isdaan sa Calauan (Floating Themed Park)
Address: Brgy. bangyas, Calauan, Laguna
Direction: From Manila, SLEX exit to Calamba. Go straight to Los Banos. from Los Banos there's a crossing for Calauan town proper,Sta Cruz and Bay, Laguna. Go straight to Sta Cruz way instead, then on the right side will be the Isdaan just 1 Km away from the crossing. Barangay Bangyas is the first Barangay at Calauan, Laguna that way.
