Peoples Management Association of the Philippines: Running with the Tigers by Annie Bahwani

Just recently, The Peoples Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) celebrated the 599th General  Membership Meeting at Raffles Hotel in Makati, Philippines with notable guests and speakers and in front line was the empowered representative from Camarines Sur, Congresswoman Leni Gerona Robredo who discussed "The Modern Day Pinoy Hero: Celebrating Journeys of Success."

PMAP incumbent President Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez during the Press Conference discussed also the readiness of the Philippines with respect to the upcoming ASEAN Integration this 2015 and some issues the Philippines are facing in terms of foreign investors. Some issues includes the countries Inadequate Infrastructures, Government or some agencies corruption, Government bureaucracy and Tax regulation among others. Jimenez also mentioned that as a Filipino or as an individual, we are ready for the ASEAn Integration.

According to Ms. Luz Co- Laguitao, the PMAP Vice President and Annual Conference Chair, the way to go is to be an Entrepreneur and if a team member, everyone needs to remove the box or not just think that there is no box but go out from the box to be ahead of the competition.

Discussed also during the Press Conference was the Bill that Senator Pia Cayetano is pushing and Mr. Rene M. Gener, the PMAP Executive Director reiterated that they are supporting this Bill.
Senator Pia S. Cayetano wants an end to what she considers an emerging type of discrimination in the labor front - discrimination in employment based on a person's age - as the ranks of the jobless continue to swell while young college graduates are added to the workforce every year.

Cayetano's Senate Bill No. (SBN) 29 seeks to eliminate age discrimination in employment by prohibiting and penalizing any employer, labor contractor or labor organization that will discriminate against any individual on the basis of his or her age.

During the main event from the 599th General Membership Meeting,  3 Notable Pinoys namely Mr. Marlon Stockinger (Junior Racer, Lotus F1 Team), Ms. Bea Rose Santiago ( 2013 Miss International) and Mr. Reuben Laurente (World Class Entertainer) shared their insights on how to achieve success and at the same time bringing a good name for the country.

PMAP is inviting everyone for the biggest gathering of HR practitioners and people managers in the country on September 17-19, 2014 at Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) is strictly a professional, non-stock, not-for-profit organization of over 1,800 member companies and individual management executives engaged or interested in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Industrial Relations (IR) work.
